第7回 Sustainable Japan Award の公募を開始しました。

株式会社ジャパンタイムズでは、2017年から持続可能な社会の実現のために様々な⽴場で活躍してきた企業や団体そして個⼈をフォーカスし、その取り組みを国内外に発信してきました。

今年で7回⽬の開催となる「Sustainable Japan Award」は、⾃薦他薦を問わず多数の企業や団体、個⼈の皆様に応募いただけるよう、公募制を取っています。加えて真摯に取り組みを続けている皆様にも、より多くの受賞の機会を与えるため、審査員推薦も実施しています。

地域活性化・地方創生の分野のSatoyama部門、そして企業を中心とした持続可能な活動を対象にESG部門の２部門を用意しています。皆様のご応募をお待ちしています。

すべての参加者特典

応募にご参加いただいた皆様に、10月発行予定の「Sustainable Japan Award 特別号」をお送り致します。

  • 第7回Sustainable Japan Award表彰式は、2025年9月18日（木）に開催予定です。
  • 候補者の方には、選考にあたり、プロフィールや団体の活動状況等に関する情報の提供をお願いすることがございます。また推薦してくださった方のお名前や推薦コメントをご本人にお知らせする場合もございますので、あらかじめご了承ください。
  • 受賞者の発表および表彰式の様子は、紙面およびウェブサイトに掲載予定です。

Sustainable Japan Award選考基準

ESG部門

（１）ESGやSDGs活動において斬新な取り組み・技術を提供している。
（２）日本の取り組みとして世界に伝えるべきもの。まだ伝わっていないもの。
（３）企業規模に関わらず、優れた取り組みを評価する。
（４）英語での発信に積極的に取り組んでいる。

Satoyama部門

（１）地域の歴史的背景・実情に沿って、里山や里海の資源・資産を活用していること
（２）地域で循環する経済を確立し、持続可能な取り組みに発展させていること
（３）日本の取り組みとして世界に伝えるべきもの。まだ伝わっていないもの。

Applications Now Open for the 7th Sustainable Japan Award

The Japan Times is proud to announce that applications are now open for the 7th Annual Sustainable Japan Award. Since 2017, we have been recognizing companies, organizations, and individuals making significant contributions toward a more sustainable society.

The Sustainable Japan Award welcomes applications from a diverse range of candidates, whether self-nominated or nominated by others. To ensure we reach those making a meaningful impact, our panel of judges also puts forward nominations. Through this award, we hope to highlight and share the efforts of individuals both in Japan and around the world that are making a difference.

The award features two categories:

The Satoyama Category – Recognizing initiatives in regional revitalization and local development.

The ESG Category – Honoring sustainability-driven activities within corporate frameworks.

We look forward to receiving your applications and celebrating those dedicated to building a sustainable future.

Benefits of participation

We will send a copy of the Sustainable Japan Award Special Issue, scheduled for publication in October, to all participants who submit an application.

Benefits for award-winning companies

The winners will be featured in The Japan Times newspaper and on the Sustainable Japan Award website. We are also planning articles on the good practices of award-winning companies and individuals, which can be applied in corporate PR and planning.

How to apply★Self-nomination,
recommendation by others

It is possible to apply as an individual, company or organization.
Please see the guidelines below and apply online using the linked form.

Guidelines:

  • The 7th Sustainable Japan Award ceremony is scheduled to be held on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025.
  • Candidates may be asked to provide information regarding their profile and the activity status of their organization at the time of selection. In addition, please note that we may inform the candidates of the name and recommendation content of the person who recommended them.
  • The announcement of the winners and award ceremony will be posted on the English newspaper The Japan Times and on the website of Sustainable Japan by The Japan Times

  • There is no limit to the number of people/organizations you can recommend. We are looking forward to receiving many recommendations.
  • The deadline for application is Monday, June 30 at 6 p.m.
  • We will send a copy of the Sustainable Japan Award Special Issue to those who apply. The issue is scheduled for October.

Sustainable Japan Award selection criteria

ESG category

（１）Providing innovative initiatives and technologies in ESG and SDGs activities.
（２）A Japanese initiative that should be communicated to the world. Initiatives that have not been spread yet.
（３）The outstanding efforts will be taken into account regardless of company size.
（４）An initiative that is actively working on being disseminated in English.

Satoyama category

（１）An initiative utilizing the resources and assets of satoyama and satoumi in line with the historical background and actual conditions of the region.
（２）The establishment of a circulating economy in the region and developing it into a sustainable initiative.
（３）A Japanese initiative that should be communicated to the world. Initiatives that have not been spread yet.
